Alan Harris, Bossk from ‘The Empire Strikes Back,’ Has Died

Actor Alan Harris, best known for his role of Bossk the bounty hunter in The Empire Strikes Back, has died at the age of 81.

Actor Chris Parsons (4-LOM in The Empire Strikes Back) confirmed his passing on Facebook. Harris has been a regular on the convention circuit in recent years, but health issues had limited him.

A cause of death has not been announced.

In addition to playing the Trandoshan Bossk, Harris also played a Bespin Security Guard and a Hoth trooper in the film. He played a Rebel escort for Princess Leia and a mechanic in A New Hope.

The actor’s full body was also used as the cast for the Han Solo in Carbonite prop, with Harrison Ford’s face added. He was also the stand-in used to build Boba Fett’s armor, although Jeremy Bullock wore it in the film.

In Return of the Jedi, another actor donned the Bossk costume, but Harris acted as a stand-in for C-3PO and played a Stormtrooper.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Harris’ family, friends, and colleagues.
