‘The Rise of Skywalker’ is Coming to Disney+ for Star Wars Day

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is coming to the Disney+ streaming service much sooner than expected.

Disney has announced that the final installment of the Skywalker saga will debut on Disney+ on May 4, Star Wars Day.

The movie is coming to Disney+ two months ahead of schedule. With the coronavirus pandemic closing theaters nationwide, many Disney films, including Onward and Frozen 2, are moving to home video and Disney+ sooner than usual.

The film’s premiere won’t be the only way Disney+ will celebrate May the Fourth. The service will also premiere the “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” documentary series and the final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

In addition, the listings for Star Wars films on the service will feature new artwork, showcasing original concept paintings by Ralph McQuarrie and Doug Chiang.

Disney released this video announcement of the availability of the complete Skywalker saga beginning May 4.
