The YouTube channel “Star Wars Theory” has created a fantastic fan film about Darth Vader, and it must be seen to be believed. It’s included below.
The Vader fan film is titled “Vader Episode I: Shards of the Past,” and runs about sixteen minutes. The creators spent over $150,000 on the short, which is set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It follows Darth Vader as he sets off on a mission, but explores his complicated relationship with The Emperor.
The film also shows Vader torn between the light and dark side, and it is highlighted with some fantastic special effects and fight sequences. The voice of Vader is exceptional, and the CGI is surprisingly good for a fan film.
“Star Wars Theory” hopes to make more episodes, but were told by Lucasfilm that their fan films could not be crowdfunded or monetized on YouTube, which could hold back efforts.
