Wednesday night, Disneyland officially opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a 14-acre expansion at Disneyland that brings everyone’s favorite space opera to life.
The opening ceremony for Galaxy’s Edge held surprises for those attending, as George Lucas, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams were all in attendance. Video of the ceremony is included below.
Seated at the back of Disneyland, Galaxy’s Edge features two marquee rides: a Millennium Falcon ride and a Resistance-themed ride. A cantina, food stands, and plenty of shops are sandwiched in-between. Galaxy’s Edge is set on the fictional outer-rim world of Batuu, a trading post where scum and villany mix, thanks to the presence of First Order troops.
For the opening ceremony, the focus was on the Falcon, as Disney CEO Bob Iger welcomed Lucas and the Star Wars cast to officially open what many are calling “Star Wars Land.”
