Attendees at the D23 Fan Expo in Anaheim were treated to the premiere of the trailer for”The Mandalorian.”
The first-ever live-action Star Wars series makes its debut on November 12 on the new video streaming service Disney Plus. According to producers, the series will have a budget similar to a feature film, and is estimated to cost $120 million.
“The Mandalorian” is expected to be the flagship offering for the service at launch, which will premiere several Marvel-based series next year and Star Wars series based on on Cassian Andor and Obi Wan Kenobi.
The show stars Pedro Pascal in the lead role, with Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, and Werner Herzog in supporting roles.
Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni (“The Clone Wars”), Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson will serve as executive producers.
The trailer evokes a definite feeling and look that reminded fans of the Tatooine scenes from A New Hope, something Favreau specifically said they were aiming for.
