“Star Wars”-inspired art has continued to pop up across Japan ahead of the release of the series’ new film in December. Now the film’s characters will be rendered in a large sand sculpture in Tottori prefecture. The work is the first sand art to be officially licensed by LucasFilm Ltd. Featured characters include C-3PO, R2-D2 and the ‘X-wing’ starfighters that destroyed the Death Star. Created by Katsuhiko Chaen, it will be 3.4 meters (11 feet) tall and 7.4 meters wide, and will use 160 tons of sand.
