Star Wars: Episode VIII shifts release date to December 2017

Patience, young Jedi. You’ll have to wait a little longer for Episode VIII.
Disney announced today that the release date for the follow-up to The Force Awakens is moving from May 26, 2017 to December 15, 2017. Disney cited the success of the December release of The Force Awakens as the reason for the move for the as-of-yet untitled Episode VIII. The new Pirates of the Caribbean is moving from July 2017 into the May 2017 release date.
Star Wars: Episode VIII will be written and directed by Rian Johnson, and is scheduled to start shooting next month in London. The entire Force Awakens cast is set to return (well, almost the entire cast), and Benicio del Toro is set to join as the villain.
