We just found out the terrible news that R2-D2 actor Kenny Baker has died at the age of 83. He had long been suffering from a sickness, but that doesn’t lessen the pain of losing such a beloved “Star Wars” actor.
“It was expected, but it’s sad nonetheless. He had a very long and fulfilled life. He brought lots of happiness to people and we’ll be celebrating the fact that he was well loved throughout the world. We’re all very proud of what he achieved in his lifetime,” Baker’s niece told The Guardian.
Baker appeared at many different conventions and “Star Wars” events over the years where he signed autographs and greeted his fans. Sadly, I never took the opportunity to meet him.
Aside from the “Star Wars” movies, Kenny Baker had roles in “Willow”, “Labyrinth”, “Time Bandits”, “Flash Gordon”, and many others.
Our sympathy and prayers go out to his friends and family at this time.
