We all know May the 4th is the perfect time to watch the Star Wars films, so our approach to “Revenge of the 5th” is to celebrate the “flip-side” of the Star Wars universe with some unusual TV and movie viewing. Here, we’ve listed a bunch of ideas for stuff to watch on the 5th:
THE HOLIDAY SPECIAL
That wretched special of scum, villainy, and awkward moments is a must watch for Revenge of the 5th, if only because we AREN’T supposed to watch it. Lucasfilm has tried to purge its existence from the Star Wars universe, but by attempting to strike it down, it has become more powerful than they could have possibly imagined. Be warned: it was bad to begin with, and it hasn’t aged well.

THE EWOK MOVIES
You can still find both “The Ewok Adventure” (renamed “Caravan of Courage” for the overseas theatrical release) and “The Battle for Endor” on VHS and an out of print DVD, and while they don’t really capture the magic of the original trilogy, there’s enough of a vintage feel to make it worth viewing. We didn’t tell you this, but you may or may not be able to watch “Caravan of Courage” on YouTube by clicking here, and you could theoretically watch “The Battle for Endor” on YouTube right here. Plus, you get Wilford Brimley.

DROIDS AND EWOKS CARTOONS
These cartoon series from Nelvana, which aired from 1985 to 1986, is a delicious slice of the 80s for those of us who grew up watching them on ABC. To view our posts about the cartoons (which include videos of the theme songs), click here for Droids, and click here for Ewoks.
GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY’S CLONE WARS CARTOON
Genndy Tartakovsky (the man behind Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack) produced two seasons of this traditional animation series, which is available on DVD from Amazon by clicking right here for Season 1 and here for Season 2. It is nothing short of fantastic, and some argue that it is better than the CGI animated Clone Wars film and series that followed (although we liked those too, Dave Filoni).
