Disney has announced release dates for three new Star Wars films, which could signal that a previously-announced trilogy is moving forward.
On Tuesday, Disney announced three new not-yet-titled Star Wars films will release on the weekend before Christmas beginning in 2022 and then every other year after that. Those dates are Dec. 16, 2022; Dec. 20, 2024; and Dec. 18, 2026.
While it is possible that the three films are anthology stories, it is more likely that the three films are a trilogy, either from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson or Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
