Rare $100,000 Cello Used to Record Star Wars Score Stolen

Principal cellist of the LA Opera Orchestra, John Walz, returned after dinner on Thursday night to find everything from his San Diego Hotel room gone, including his beloved instrument. Used in the scores for Star Wars films, the rare cello is worth $100,000. Walz took it around the world with him for various performances and gigs, which included work with composer John Williams on the soundtracks for the three most recent Star Wars films – Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Rogue One.
