Lucasfilm has revealed a new character from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, and he may be more significant than you think.
Babu Frik is the name of the character, and according to StarWars.com, he is a “tiny Anzellan droidsmith, first glimpsed in toy form during the Triple Force Friday livestream event, (who) works among the Spice Runners of Kijimi and can reprogram or modify virtually any droid — regardless of the security measures protecting its systems.”
As you might have seen in the livestream event, Babu Frik comes with the C-3PO Black Series 6″ figure. Considering his ability to “reprogram or modify virtually any droid,” that could mean he is responsible for the “red eyes” C-3PO seen in the last Rise of Skywalker trailer. 3PO obviously has been reprogrammed, and it could be that Babu has modified him into some sort of “battle mode.”
We’ll know for sure when The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters this December.
