Sorry kids, any hope for Luke Skywalker returning in physical form for The Rise of Skywalker has been shot down – by Mark Hamill himself.
At the red carpet premiere for the Child’s Play reboot, in which he voices Chucky, Hamill briefly addressed Star Wars. He told The Associated Press that he had no desire to continue making Star Wars movies, and then dropped a spoiler about his role in the upcoming Episode IX.
“I sure hope so,” when asked if he was done making movies for the saga. “Because, you know, I had closure in the last one…the fact that I’m involved in any capacity is only because of that peculiar aspect of Star Wars mythology where if you’re a Jedi, you get to come back and make a curtain call as a Force Ghost.”
Here’s video of his interview, posted to Twitter by The AP.
