It’s true! They still put Star Wars movies on VHS tape

Believe it or not, you are actually looking at a VHS copy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Greg Grunberg (The Force Awakens’ Snap Wexley) was on a Delta Airlines flight in which the film was playing for passengers, and tweeted out the picture above. As it turns out, the film shown to passengers actually comes off of a VHS tape. Why Delta hasn’t upgraded to DVD or Blu-ray players is beyond me, but here’s the proof. You can click the image to see a larger version, and you can see more details on the label, including the dates and flight routes the film is to be shown in. For the record, there hasn’t been a Star Wars film released on VHS in America since Attack of the Clones. Revenge of the Sith was only available on VHS in foreign countries, and it looks like the only way to get The Force Awakens on VHS is to get a hold of a commercial tape like this one. Still, I want one for my old-school collection.
