We were so focused on celebrating Life Day yesterday that we failed to honor one of the greatest characters from “Star Wars” on his birthday. Boba Fett made his debut in “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” Although I disagree, many would say he’s the only good thing to come out of the 1978 television special. Happy Birthday, Mr. Fett!
In honor of his birthday, we present to you pictures of the Gentle Giant Boba Fett Holiday Special Animated Maquette, courtesy of the Boba Fett Fan Club. Read the description of this fine piece of art and see more detailed images after the jump.
“Only the truly hardcore Star Wars fans know that the malevolent Mandalorian bounty hunter’s first appearance wasn’t The Empire Strikes Back, but rather the equally infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. The master artisans at Gentle Giant Ltd. have decided to celebrate that first appearance with the latest addition to our Animated Maquette line!
Digitally sculpted using footage from the one of the few remaining intact copies of the Special as reference, this dramatic piece features a very different look for one of the most iconic film characters of all time. This limited edition hand-painted maquette comes individually numbered and is paired with a matching certificate of authenticity.”
Want one? Too bad. They’re all out! However, you can salivate over these detailed images of what you could’ve had.
