City of Duncanville to Host “Star Wars” Themed Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting

If you’re in the Dallas / Fort Worth, TX area, you’re not going to want to miss this incredible event. The City of Duncanville, TX has themed their annual parade and tree lighting ceremony this year “Christmas in the Stars – a ‘Star Wars’ Christmas.” They have all sorts of fun activities planned for folks pumped up for Christmas and the release of “The Force Awakens.” Our good buddies over at The Rantcor Pit Podcast and Live Show are participating in the parade, so be sure to head out there and enjoy the Holiday festivities!

Hopefully their theme music will be “Christmas in the Stars” from the “‘Star Wars’ Christmas Album” released in 1980 and featuring Anthony Daniels as C-3PO on lead vocals. get all the details for the event below:

Join us in celebration of the Christmas Holiday, as the City of Duncanville hosts its annual Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting on Friday, December 4th, 2015.

This year’s festivities will feature the annual parade down Main Street, pictures with Santa, the tree-lighting ceremony, and much more.

Join the City of Duncanville in recognizing Wear “‘Star Wars’ Share “Star Wars,'” an annual event that takes a stance against bullying by wearing “Star Wars” gear or costumes and in anticipation of the forthcoming movie, we will be welcoming some special guests from a galaxy far, far away.

PARADE & TREE LIGHTING EVENTS

PARADE
Price: Free to the Public
Description: The Christmas parade will be hosted by the Duncanville Parks & Recreation Department. This year’s theme is “Christmas in the Stars – a ‘Star Wars’ Christmas” with Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper army as Grand Marshal.
Time: 7:00PM – 8:00PM
Place: The parade route will extend from Freeman to Wheatland, Wheatland to Main and dis-embarking on Main at Carder.
Special Info: To participate in the parade, please register with Duncanville Parks & Recreation at the following location: Recreation Center – 201 James Collins Blvd., Duncanville, TX 75116

***Various closures will affect the Wheatland & Main St area beginning at 6PM.

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY & CONCERT
Price: Free to the Public
Description: City of Duncanville’s Christmas in the Stars Tree Lighting & Concert will feature commentary by Mayor David Green and the music of Duncanville ISD’s Elementary Choirs.
Time: 8:00PM – 10:00PM
Place: In front of JB 24 Hour Tire Services – 103 S Main St., Duncanville, TX

FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Price: Free to the Public
Description: Enjoy the festivities hosted by the City of Duncanville’s Park & Recreation Department which includes pictures with Santa, pictures with “Star Wars” characters like Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Storm Troopers & More! Enjoy “The Night Before Christmas” story time with R2-D2 &
C-3PO and meet & greet with other out of this world characters!

Place: Ben Franklin Apothecary – Pictures with Santa, “Jurassic Park” & “Ghostbusters.”
Duncanville Feed Store – Pictures with Star Wars Characters hosted by Credit Union of Texas

SHUTTLE SERVICE
Price: Free to the Public
Description: Due to various street closures and limited parking, the City of Duncanville has partnered with Duncanville ISD to offer a free shuttle service before, during and after the event.
Time: 5:00PM – End of Event
Place: Costco – 250 E Hwy 67, Duncanville, TX 75137
Special Info: To catch the parade and events following, park and ride from Costco to the shuttle stop located at the southeast corner of Main & Wheatland at the Dallas County Tax Office.

After the parade, the shuttle stop will move closer to the Main St activities at W Freeman & Main St.
