Emmy nominated Concept Designer and Art Director Paul Bateman ran across the plans for the Death Star while thumbing through his “Star Wars” collection and posted this picture of what they look like up close. Bateman was “Star Wars” concept artist Ralph McQuarrie’s protege and is definitely someone you should be following on Facebook and Twitter. He works for Pinewood Studios and is the co-host of Rebel Force Radio’s “Star Wars Influences” podcast. You can read and see more after the jump.
The plans pictured above came in the 1978 R2-D2 12-inch action figure from Kenner. They were stored inside R2. It’s amazing how simple the details are on the plans, as if designed for someone ages 4 and up.
